John D. Pringle graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. While attending the University of Texas at Austin, John made the Dean's List in the Fall 1975. He went to law school at the Bates College of Law, University of Houston, from which he graduated in 1980 with a Juris Doctor Degree. While attending the Bates College of Law, John won the ABA-LSD Client Counseling Competition in the Spring 1979. John also competed in Moot Court and Mock Trial at the Bates College of Law reaching the quarter finals.
Following his admission to the State Bar of Texas in 1980, John practiced law in Houston with the law firm of Johnson & Milligan, P.C. John moved to Austin to take a position with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission as a prosecutor. He was active in the Austin Young Lawyers Association becoming Membership Committee Chairman in 1984. John edited "Your Case in Traffic Court" for the Texas Young Lawyers Association. He left the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission in 1984 and began representing clients before that state agency. He became an associate with the law firm of Harris & Harris and began representing clients before the Texas Industrial Accident Board. John was hired as Assistant General Counsel - Litigation - by Cigna Property & Casualty Group to defend property and casualty claims in the state courts and before the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. While employed by Cigna Property & Casualty Group, John coordinated the preparation of the Cigna Texas Workers' Compensation Manual. John left Cigna Property & Casualty Group in 1993 to open the Law Offices of John D. Pringle for the general practice of law specializing in Administrative Law.
John became Board Certified in Administrative Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1991. John has extensive experience representing clients at contested case hearings before the State Office of Administrative Hearings as well as before other state agencies. In addition he has attended benefit review conferences, contested case hearings, and reviews to the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission, now Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation Appeals Panel. John has handled numerous medical disputes and administrative violation cases. He has tried cases before the state District Courts, and has argued cases before the state Courts of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court. John is licensed to practice in all State of Texas courts as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.
John is a member of the Administrative Law Section of the Travis County Bar Association, Travis County Bar Association, Administrative Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, State Bar of Texas, College of the State Bar, Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and the Federal Bar Association among others.
He is a frequent public speaker and is a current member of Toastmasters.
